Part-Time Nanny/Family Assistant Rock Star Needed

Location: Middle Sound Loop area in Wilmington

Pay: $25 to $33 per hour DOE

Hours: 15 guaranteed hours per week (some additional hours will be available at times but not required)

Start Date: Early to Mid-May (some flex for the right candidate)

Family Overview:

A warm, active family in the Middle Sound Loop area of Wilmington is looking for a part-time Nanny/Family Assistant to join their crew. The family has two kids: an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl who both have plenty of personality to go around. This family is looking for a candidate who is genuinely present with the kids, empathetic to their needs, and knows how to read the room — whether that means encouraging imaginative play or knowing when to let the homework frustration breathe before diving in to help. Just as important: when the fun is over, the kitchen gets cleaned up, the lunch boxes get packed, and the house gets left better than they found it.

What Your Day Will Include:

Childcare Related

  • Provide transportation to/from school, camps, and other activities and appointments when needed

  • Homework help and making sure assignments actually get done

  • Planning and participating in age-appropriate, engaging activities

  • Preparing healthy snacks and packing lunches

  • Facilitating play dates and keeping the chaos organized

  • Maintaining tidy kids' spaces, belongings, and gear

  • Caring for children when sick, following family discipline preferences

Household Related

  • Light cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, and general household tidying (a cleaning service comes to do the heavy lifting)

  • Weekly linen changes and keeping kids' rooms and closets organized

  • Family laundry bi-weekly or as needed

  • Grocery runs, errands, and keeping pantry and household supplies stocked

  • Prepping family meals three times per week

  • Managing and maintaining the family calendar and household organization

  • General pet care: walking the dog, feeding all pets, handling vet appointments

  • Miscellaneous household support as needs changes

Requirements:

  • CPR/First Aid certified for willing to get certified

  • Willingness to undergo and pass a background check

  • Provide 2 to 3 professional references

  • Experience taking care of multiple children and willingness to care for children when they’re sick

  • Able to walk up and down stairs carrying 30+ pounds, active and energetic

  • Comfortable in a home with pets (1 dog, 1 cat, and fish)

Preferences:

  • Provide occasional overnight care when parents are traveling

  • Willing to commit long term to provide consistency for the family

Schedule:

  • Start Date: Early to Mid-May

  • Availability:Monday, Wednesday, and 1 flex day each week (Tues, Thurs, or Fri) for 5 hours each day that will fall between 7:15am and 7pm

  • 15 guaranteed hours per week, with additional hours available some weeks but will not be required if nanny is unavailable.

The Family would love to have someone who is flexible to change which flex day (Tues, Thurs, Fri) they work based on needs each week, but are okay if the right candidate needs to have that flex day be the same set day each week.

While school is still in, the schedule needed will mostly be afternoon hours (1pm to 6pm or 2pm to 7pm). Once summer break hits, kids will be in camps most weeks but the times will vary and some days help will be needed starting around 7:15am so parents can get to work on time.

Compensation & Perks:

  • $25 - $34 per hour

  • 5 Paid Sick and Personal Days Off a Year

  • Paid Holidays Off
