Family Overview:

Yes, the headcount sounds like a lot. Then you meet the family. This household in Hampstead is raising kind, capable, responsible kids who clean up after themselves, do their schoolwork without being nagged, and actually say "thank you." Mom is a stay-at-home parent who will be right there in the trenches with you, and Dad works from home. You will be the support mom needs to finally take her first nap in 6 years.

There is also a couch potato dog who you will not really need to do much, if anything, for,

Please note, you may occasionally be supervised by the family’s couch potato bull dog, if he stays awake long enough to see what’s going on. No care will be needed for him other than occasional letting him in/out or filling a water/food dish.

The Role

Four children keep you company during the day: ages 8, 6, 4, and 2.5. A 15-year-old pitches in around the house and needs no care from you. A new baby arrives mid-December, and newborn care is not part of this job. Mom has that covered.

The kids are homeschooled and independent about their work. You will be involved taking them to co-op to help mom keep an eye on everyone, keeping the little ones engaged, and helping with schoolwork or projects when asked. You will also help the kids build good habits, like tidying up and pitching in, which they are already pretty great at.

There will also be times when mom is with the kids and your focus can turn to more household help like organization, children’s laundry (there’s plenty of it), and VERY basic family meal prep (family will provide recipes and instruction - no expert chefs needed)

The Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday: 8am to 4pm

  • Friday: 8am to 2pm

  • Weekends: off

  • 38 guaranteed hours per week

  • The start date is as soon as the right person is found.

What Your Days Look Like:

  • Plan and lead screen-free fun: crafts, music, movement, puzzles, outdoor play, and imaginative games

  • Run the daily rhythm of meals, snacks, naps, transitions, and morning routines (teeth, faces, clothes, bathroom tidy)

  • Drive the family vehicle (provided) to co-op, activities, playgroups, and the occasional errand

  • Handle hygiene and care for the little ones, including diapers, baths on request, and giving medication as agreed

  • Coach the kids through chores and keep play areas, bedrooms, and kid gear tidy and organized

  • Keep up with the kids' laundry, dishwasher loading, and general straightening

  • Do light household help: taking out trash, bringing in packages, watering plants, and letting the family dog in and out

  • Send parents a daily update on meals, naps, and milestones

  • Show up promptly if a child is sick, because kids do not check the schedule first

Ideal Traits:

  • Active and energetic, able to keep up and run around with the kids outside

  • Loving but firm when needed; comfortable teaching/reinforcing boundaries, but still a nurturing caregiver

  • Handles pressure easily and able to maintain their cool

  • Able to multi-task and address multiple needs at the same time

Must-haves:

  • Experience with multiple children

  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to get certified

  • A clean driving record and confidence behind the wheel

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • 3 to 4 professional references

  • Comfort around one friendly dog

  • A real interest in a long-term role. The family wants consistency for their kids.

  • Comfort working in a home with a stay-at-home mom and work-from-home dad

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience

  • Overtime pay for hours over 40 in a work week

  • 10 paid days off per year: 5 chosen by the family and 5 chosen by you (your bank opens after around 6 weeks based on first day)

  • 3 paid sick days per year, accruing one per month after your first 30 days

  • Paid holidays off when they fall on a scheduled workday: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day

  • Family vehicle provided for work-related driving

Please note: because of the new baby, PTO cannot be taken between January 3 and March 15, 2027. Your bank of PTO days will be available so you can take extra time around Christmas if you’d like.

Sound like your kind of organized chaos? Southern Coast Nannies would love to hear from you!
