Location: Middle Sound Loop area in Wilmington, NC
Pay: $25-$34 per hour DOE
Hours: 6 guaranteed hours per week
Start Date: Beginning of November
Schedule:
Mondays OR Wednesdays each week (childcare): 3:00–6:00pm — which day rotates based on mom's work schedule each week
Tuesdays & Thursdays (household/pet support): 2 hours per day, flexible anytime between 10:00am–2:00pm
Family Overview:
A mom in the Middle Sound Loop area of Wilmington is looking for a part-Time Nanny/Family Assistant to support her household as she steps into a new chapter. She has two kids — an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl — and a household that is full of life, including a dog, a cat, fish, chickens, and possibly a pair of mini donkeys joining the crew soon.
She needs someone reliable, warm, and adaptable to help keep things running smoothly on the days her kids are with her and to support the household even when they are not.
This is a small but mighty role — perfect for a college student or someone looking for a consistent part-time position with a little flexibility built in.
Childcare Duties:
(One day per week — either Monday or Wednesday, based on mom's work schedule)
● Afternoon pickup and transportation to activities or appointments (family will provide mileage reimbursement)
● Homework support and making sure assignments are completed
● Age-appropriate activities that are actually fun, not just busy work
● Healthy snacks, kid-friendly meals, and keeping lunch gear stocked and clean
● Keeping kids' spaces tidy and belongings organized
● Following mom's lead on discipline, routines, and household preferences
● Comfortable stepping in when a kiddo is under the weather
Family Assistant Duties:
(Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2 hours each day that just need to fall between 10am–2pm - but you pick the exact time)
● General household tidying, vacuuming, and light cleaning
● Laundry, folding, and keeping closets and kids' rooms organized
● Weekly linen changes and kitchen upkeep (dishwasher, hand-washing pots and pans)
● Grocery runs, errands, and keeping household supplies stocked
● Managing the family calendar and staying ahead of appointments and activities
● Pet care: walking the dog, feeding all animals as needed (chickens included, and yes —possibly mini donkeys), and helping with vet appointments
● Miscellaneous household support as needs shift
To be clear on the farm side: feeding is fair game, cleaning stalls and coops is not — that is what the farm hand is for.
The Schedule:

● Occasional weekend childcare as needed
● 6 guaranteed hours per week

What They're Looking For:
● Warm, empathetic, and genuinely good with kids
● Proactive and comfortable taking initiative without a checklist every time
● Reliable, calm under pressure, and a solid communicator
● Comfortable around animals — all of them, including the barnyard variety
● CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified
● Able to pass a background check and provide 2–3 professional references
Bonus points for candidates open to occasional overnight coverage when mom is traveling and those looking to stick around long-term.
Compensation & Perks:
● $25 - $34 per hour
● 10 paid sick and personal hours annually
● Paid Holidays off on days that fall within the normal weekly schedule
